Our daughter, like the majority of infants, has a bit of cradle cap. Being the techno-savvy mom that I am, I looked up some remedies on all the baby sites. When the regular shampoo and brush off the flakes method didn’t work too well, I decided to try another- rub vaseline on your baby’s scalp to soften the flakes, then shampoo and brush as usual.
Apparently I used too much vaseline. It. Would. Not. Wash. Out.
I found ANOTHER remedy- dust her head with a little cornstarch and the wash with baby shampoo and a pinch of baking soda. That sort of worked. I ended up blotting her hair with tissues while nursing for the rest of the night.
I feel I am making it up to her with the Cabled Baby Coat with Hood, from Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. I cast on yesterday for the 6-9 month size and from what I’ve read, most kids can wear it for a long time due to the style of the coat.

It’s going to be very cute in the colour you have chosen. Our little girl had cradle cap too, but we just did the shampoo and brush thing and it went away…
I think the vaseline do is cute! I think the sweater will look perfect with it.
Consider vaseline to be baby styling gel! I think the cabled coat is adorable.

I like the Vaseline look, too! My husband used to call the condition “cradle crap.” (I hope you’re not offended by that word. It’s just what I automatically think of every time I see cradle cap.)
I second the brush (soft surgical brush – if you can’t find one at the local pharmacy, find an occupational therapist.. they often have them on hand) Just use the brush with mild baby shampoo at every bath, eventually it will go away.
And once its gone, continue to use the brush to prevent more from forming.
And if worse comes to worse, feel comfortable that generations of moms rely on Vaseline 😉
What a pretty sweater! We used baby oil, seemed to work ok, but a comb versus a brush was needed.
I think cradle cap seems to be a universal problem! We just did the hairbrush thing… although the vaseline thing seems like it would work well.

THAT is a very cute sweater. Yuck…the days of cradle crap (as Beth calls it!) It’s a pretty easy problem to take care of.
